Need to re-ignite your Bar Exam zeal?
If procrastination, lethargy, distraction, or overwhelm is getting to you, it’s time for a heartfelt connection to your long-term goal. You’ve been at this for a while and it’s normal to sometimes lose the vision.
Watch the video and do this quick exercise to reconnect to your passion & purpose. You can also skip below to read instructions and download the diagram to do on your own.
Draw a circle in the middle of your paper with space enough to include 7-10 small written words.
What do you foresee as the dream come true impact of passing the Bar Exam? How will you feel, vindicated, accomplished? How will you benefit? Will you feel financially secure? Finally, live the lifestyle you desire? Write those down in this circle (use shorthand). Really think about this. You’ll reap full benefits by following along.
Draw a larger circle around the first one. Here consider anyone who lives under the same roof with you. How will they benefit from you passing the Bar and starting your career? Will they be financially secure? Are they now relieved of the duty to support you and now able to set out for their own dreams? Will your children not only be able to spend more time but also see your example of finishing your dreams? What’s the impact on your family?
Draw an even larger circle around the previous one and focus on the impact on your extended family and community. Will you be able to contribute at church or community events in a more impactful way once you’ve accomplished your dreams? Will you be able to pour into your niece or nephew? How does your community benefit from you accomplishing your dream?
Draw an even larger circle, this is your last circle. Here you will focus on your life legacy that you will leave behind, made possible by you accomplishing your dream. How will mankind benefit because you’ve completed this step? It’s likely your family members will be affected and in turn affect the world. You may leave a mark on the legal profession. You may champion an important cause that changes public policy. Or you may save that one person from a legal catastrophe and they go on to impact the world for good. What’s the legacy you can leave by passing the Bar and starting your career?
Feeling connected to passion & purpose again? You’re here, at this crossroads for a reason. Remember that reason. And keep going. See you inside the challenge.
