What to do after the bar exam

What to do after the bar exam:

1. Change your surroundings (leave the testing site immediately).

2. Do not discuss the exam with anyone–which leads perfectly to…

3. Get away from your bar exam taker friends. (Now is a great time to call and listen to that drama-filled friend of yours who goes on and on about herself and never asks how you're doing. Yes, perfect time to talk to her.)

4. Do something new, fun, or different. (I’m such a foodie that I will literally get on a plane to try a new dish. So in a new town with lots of restaurants I’ve never tried, my after bar exam activity was a no-brainer).

5. Go. to. Sleep!

6. Make a list of all the things you put off since law school and number them in priority.

7. If your mind wanders to the bar exam gently tell it “we’re not doing that now” then redirect your thoughts to the new activity you’re diving into.

8. Relax in your favorite way–bubble bath and wine anyone? Right after the exam, I beelined to the drugstore for bathtub disinfectant, bubble bath, and candles (don’t tell the hotel about the candles okay? Our secret).

9. What was that show you’ve been meaning to finish binging? Now’s the time!

10. Take a walk (bonus points if you make a gratitude list while you stroll).

MOST IMPORTANTLY!

Congratulate yourself. A few of your peers did not even show up for day two of the exam. Some skipped the exam altogether.

I know this because I help bar takers build Bar Exam Confidence and show up for themselves.
