Are you frustrated at the slow-to-non-existent trickle of business? Are you wondering what exactly it’s going to take to get it going again?
First ask your the following questions (and be honest with the answer).
“Am I marketing my business?”
“What have I done to market my business?”
I was approached by two business owners this week alone, both with the same frustration. They aren’t getting noticed, and blame that for why they aren’t selling or booking new clients.
Here’s a quick rundown on the answers I gave both entrepreneurs.
Figure out what worked to get you clients in the past. Then repeat those actions. Multiply them in proportion to how many more clients you want.
Accept that you are a marketer first and a coach/service provider/artist, second. Your first job is to market your business otherwise you have no customers and therefore no business. Your time should reflect those priorities.
Spend 50% of your business time working on marketing activities. For example, if you have 4 hours to work on your business today, 2 of those 4 should be you working solely on marketing (money-generating/client getting) activities.
Since suddenly half your business life is about marketing, it’s important you choose marketing strategies that line up with your heart and soul (as well as fatten your pocketbook). Expertly screen what will and won’t work for you by knowing your Business Type. When you take the Business Quiz your results and profile will reveal to you what to avoid and what to accentuate based on how you normally operate. Use that knowledge to choose marketing tactics that you’ll be able to stay faithful to for the long run.
